These are the people who put together my leg:
Next Step Orthotics & Prosthetics, Inc.
Before my amputation, I interviewed lots of people, from surgeons to prosthetists, to make sure I would end up with a team which would offer me the best result with the least stress. I chose this group, even though they don't really have an office near my house, because they have the most experience. My prosthetist, Bob Emerson, is also a right transfemoral (above-knee) amputee, an athlete, and a former building contractor, so he really understands what I want. Also, he's tried out all the equipment I'd ever want to use (and more) himself and personally works with manufacturers and scientists here and in Europe on developing cutting-edge technology, everything from the next computerized knee to the best, most comfortable silesian belt in the world. This gives him -- and by extension, his clients -- the widest possible range of choices.
This group really understands the goal of having no limits. I'd recommend them to anybody.
