My Photo

Sara...

  • ...is a happy, ordinary, middle-aged, suburban woman who paints odd pictures, gardens in a straw hat, lives with the love of her life, is owned by one cat and the ghosts of several others, and walks a little funny 'cause she has a fake leg. She started this website because there's more to life than what we lose, and we need to let each other know what's possible, even if it's only a happy, ordinary life.

Oh yum! Stop with the baked goods, it's too *hot* to run the oven! (Duly bookmarking in bloglines for, oh September...) ;-)

Mouth watering. Must make muffins. Without the pecans because of my son's nut allergy. Do you think you could sub sucanat for the turbinado sugar?

Sara

Leslee, I made them at 10:00 at night (with the air conditioning on; we will not discuss this). hahahaha

Laurie, I don't see why not. A lot of times I put turbinado on top because it makes sparklies, but not in this case. Honestly, I wasn't quite sure what it would do, and what it did, as you may be able to see in the photo, was immediately begin dissolving into the liquidy part of the batter. So you end up with nice caramelly goodness on top, but the overall muffin isn't too sweet. And the pecans are good, but certainly not necessary.

OMG those muffins looks delicious...do I sense a First Annual Muffin Social in the works out in your neck of the suburban woods? It was great to meet you....

Sara

Hm, I think in the autumn would be better simply because some people seem to be higher minded than I and less willing to run their air conditioners just so they can get their bake on. However, summer fruit begs summer baking. So, hm. What to do?

It was great to meet you, too. Here's to future orgies parties.

Janet

Those sound delicious! It was nice to meet you and your beloved, and yes, I do have some pictures up, right in the middle of this entry:

Oh, Janet, it was lovely to meet you, too! And how nice to have photographic evidence that, once again, I was NOT exaggerating; truly, it was an orgy. ;)

(Everyone should click your link just to see the sky picture at the end. Gorgeous.)

Mmmmmm, muffins! Yum yum yum. Thanks for sharing the recipe! And ice cream. Speaking of which, "ice creamed?" Awesome verb. I think I should use that more often. :)

Sara

Hey, if "drunk" can be an adjective... ;)
