Today's word is
Another wonderful, strong word, and one elegantly employed quite recently by our esteemed correspondent Patry in one of her Waitress Poems, "Her Husband, Trying To Impress Another Woman."
Enjoy!

Still filling in out of my notebook from a year ago.
Not everyone
earns the right
to see beneath
your slick carapace.Everyone makes
his or her own, carefully
laying on each layer.Contrary to what
some believe,
the eyes do not
provide a view in.The carapace --
it can't be drilled through,
sliced through,
peeled back forcibly.
Trust alone unlocks it.Not everyone
has what it takes
to earn that.Choose well.
Make mistakes.Move on.
