I Don't Know What Came Over Me

Then There Was The Time I Lost My Mind for a Month

What is it?

  • This site the fault of Leslee and Patry, via Qarrtsiluni.

    Here's the premise:

Every day, Dictionary.com publishes a Word of the Day. I will display it here. If I like the word, I will try to come up with a poem using it by the end of the day. If you like the word, go ahead and write your own poem and post it in the comments, also by the end of the day, if you can.

While you are here, please play nicely with others. Spam will be summarily deleted, as will anything obviously abusive or malicious in my opinion. Also, please note that everything written here remains the intellectual property of whoever wrote it. Therefore, you are not allowed to copy or republish anything here unless whoever wrote the bit you want to use tells you in writing that it's okay.

Problems? Comments? Write to me, Sara, at SaraArts dot com.

    Have fun with this!

Dang! How'd I miss this? You've been doing this all month? Oh, sigh....

Sara

Well, I did it all November, and I even filled in some I'd written long ago but never got around to posting. I didn't make an effort to let people know I planned to do it, because I wasn't sure I'd be able to fulfill the commitment, but then I was. It was a major accomplishment in its way. I'm very tired now, though, sort of blog-poisoned, so it will be a long time before I do it again.

Truly, I think it will be next November before I do it again. But at least a month of this is a goal I can hit. I have proven so, even with a cold for over a third of the month -- and with Mercury retrograde half the month! The big problem with this project for me is that it prevents me from writing other things I need to write. It's a good exercise, but it needs to be only an exercise, not a consuming pastime, especially since I also have that other blog that I write in at great length usually a few times a month.

Thanks for stopping by, though, MB. It's always good to see you. I hope you enjoyed whatever parts of the month's scratchings you were able to peruse.

Cheers!

I will be perusing your scratchings more as I have time, Sara, and knowing you, I will expect I will enjoy them!

Sara--I hope you get this comment--I just had an impulse to check the link on Billy's "100 Poets" list (the ORIGINAL 100!) and here you are with more poems!
It's like a nova that flared up, and the light is just reaching me across the universe...
Billy just put me on his 4th 100 poets list--that's so cool! I'm still at firebirdlanding.blogspot.com--
But I really LOVE THIS POEM, AND MISS YOUR POETRY! Even appreciate it more after blogging this past year...
I hope you can continue to write, without the impossible pressure of the daily writing, just when you feel inspired. You have so much to say...
